Snakes and ladders with my daughter, where a snake only counts if she says so

I'm usually back from the lab by 5, and my partner's site visits run later, so the 6 to 7 slot is mine. I thought a board game would be a nice calm thing for the two of us. Her rule is that a snake needs her permission to count. Permission has not been given once. Ladders are compulsory for me too, but only going down. Eleven games this week, zero wins for me. Not complaining, just reporting.
