Relatives keep asking if my 4 year old can write yet

We are considering Gowtham Model School in Alwal for my son, who is 4. Every family visit someone asks whether he can write his name yet, and my peddamma has started sending worksheets. The parent group I'm in keeps forwarding lists of what a child should already know before joining any school. I would rather hear what the school itself expects than go by forwards. If you looked at Gowtham or somewhere similar, how did you find out what they actually look for at entry? Was it the front office that told you, the interaction itself, or other parents?

No idea about that school specifically. When we applied we asked for the format of the admission interaction in writing, and it turned out much shorter than the forwards suggested. Have they given you a prospectus yet?

Only a general brochure so far, nothing about the interaction. I'll ask for that specifically when I go in next.

When my son was at that stage, most of the pressure came from relatives and parent groups rather than from any school we applied to. We put one plain question to each school: what would you like a child to be comfortable with on the first day. The answers were more about routines than writing. Have you been able to speak to someone from admissions directly yet?
