Partner's away ten days in July and I've never done a school morning

mint_notebook_7286

My partner has a conference abroad in the first half of July. Mornings in our house are entirely my partner's department: two boys up, fed, dressed, lunch boxes, out the door by 7.10. I do pickups and evenings and I'm decent at those. I've been watching closely this week like it's a training video. Four things at once, and the other sock still gets found. Tips for someone doing this solo for the first time, with a 9 to 6 job and client reviews that don't move?

lay out both uniforms the night before. socks go inside the shoes. trust me 😄

Nothing useful from me, ours is 6 months 😊 but when my amma went back to her place, my partner and I stuck a list on the fridge with a time next to everything. Felt silly, worked anyway.

Mornings are survivable. It's the evenings that get you: homework, dinner, bags for the next day, all on one adult. Cook two things on the weekend so dinner is only reheating. My elder used to pack his sister's bag on my early lab days, so give your older one a job too.

When my partner travelled, the school van took one thing off my plate. It may be late to get a seat for July, but a neighbour's carpool for those ten days could work. Do the boys go to the same school?

carpool yes. van seats mid year are rare. ask the colony group, someone always has a half empty car at 7

your older one can do more than you think. my daughter makes her brother breakfast on my office days, instant noodles some days but still. hand him the lunch boxes
