Our elder son has started auditing how much ghee his little brother gets

I'll admit I pour a little extra ghee on the younger one's rice. He's three, he's the fussy one, and varan bhaat with ghee is the one thing he eats without a fight. The elder one has noticed. Last night he watched the spoon, counted, and announced that his brother gets 'two and a half' and he gets 'one'. Then he wanted to know why. Two questions really. How much ghee is sensible at these ages anyway? And how do you handle a kid who has turned the dinner table into an audit?

On the first question, our paediatrician told us about a teaspoon with a meal is plenty for a 3 year old and not to fuss beyond that. Worth checking with yours, since every doctor seems to have a slightly different number. Ours eats more when he's allowed to pour it himself, oddly.

Same spoon, same amount, in front of both of them. My daughter is a teenager now and can still tell you who got the bigger mango slice in 2019 😅

Tried the same-spoon rule at breakfast this morning with the parathas. Equal ghee, no complaints from the elder one. The younger one now wants to hold the spoon himself, so we've swapped one problem for another.

      Replying to @lemon_moon_4086

Let the older one do the serving for both of them for a week. Our son gets to serve at his cousins' place, and the moment the spoon is in his hand he stops counting and turns very generous.
