Our 2 month old only naps if someone is holding her

dusk_balcony_3684

During the day she's with her grandmother and our caregiver, and between them she's held for every nap. The moment she's put down, her eyes open. Evenings it's my partner or me, same result. Nobody is complaining yet, and holding a sleeping baby is not the worst job in the house. But I'd like to know whether this passes on its own or is something we should start working on now. What did you do with yours?

ours was exactly like this till about 4 months. then it eased off, slowly. we did nothing clever, just took turns and tried putting him down a few seconds sooner each week

three grandparents held ours for every nap. he's in college now and sleeps through alarms. some phases pass a bit too well

Same with our son. My mother had a cloth cradle on a hook and rocked him in it while she read the paper, which kept the holding down. That was seventeen years ago, so check what your doctor says now.

      Replying to @cobalt_rickshaw_563

My mother-in-law suggested a cloth cradle just yesterday. Our paediatrician wants her on her back on a flat surface for sleep, so we've parked that idea for now. The few-seconds-sooner approach is easier to get everyone at home to agree on.

ours started settling on the bed around the time she found her hands. fist in mouth and off she went. couldn't tell you why it clicked then
