our 1 year old screams the moment the mixie starts

velvet_fern_1768

started about two weeks ago. the caregiver runs the mixie for chutney in the morning and he goes from playing to full scream, arms up, needs to be picked up. the pressure cooker too now, a bit less. he didn't care at all before. i've been showing him the jar before switching it on. doesn't help much. do they grow out of this on their own

Our daughter is younger, but my son went through exactly this at about the same age, and I remember it lasting a couple of months. What seemed to help was letting him press the button himself while someone held him, so the noise was something he made rather than something that happened to him. It may have been coincidence. I would not hold him close to it while it runs, though. That made it worse for us.

letting him press it is a good idea. he presses every other button in the house already. will try tomorrow before the caregiver starts

With our son it was the vacuum cleaner. Two things helped: running it in another room while he was busy with something, and telling him every time that a loud noise was coming. Telling him felt pointless at that age, but he started to watch for it. It faded over a few months. Thunder took longer.

update from this morning. he pressed the button, the mixie ran, he looked shocked for two seconds and then wanted to press it again. caregiver was not thrilled about three rounds of chutney. small win
