Nephew's parents are considering VIP's International School in Malakpet. I'd be the one driving from Ameerpet

Our nephew stays with us on school days, and his parents make the school decisions. They are looking at an IGCSE school for him from next year, and VIP's International School in Malakpet is on their list. He is 10 and currently at a CBSE school close to our house. My questions are more practical than academic: the morning drive from Ameerpet to Malakpet, and whether a child moving into IGCSE around class 6 from CBSE settles in reasonably. My clinic starts at 10, so the timing matters. Has anyone done this drive daily, or moved a child into IGCSE at that age?

I do Ameerpet to the Malakpet side for client visits a couple of times a month. Before 8 it's manageable. After 8.30 it slows down badly near the railway crossings. If the school day starts early you'll probably be fine, but leave a buffer on rain days if you have to be back for a 10 am start.

rain days are the real issue. from domalguda that side takes us double the time in this season

On the board side, ask the school directly how they help a class 6 joiner from CBSE catch up in English and maths. Their answer will tell you more than any review.

We live in Kothapet, so Malakpet is close for us. As a teacher I have seen children change boards at 10 or 11, and most of them settle within a term if someone at home sits with them for the first few weeks. Since he lives with you on school days, that someone may be you. Also, if there is any health need at all, ask early how the school's medical room works. I learnt that the hard way with my daughter.

Thank you, that's useful. No health needs, fortunately. The sitting-with-him part will be me, mostly in the evenings. I'll pass both points on to his parents before they visit.
