Monthly daycare report for a 17 month old says 'needs to improve: sharing'

pebble_kite_5942

He is seventeen months old. He has about nine words and two of them are 'mine'. The report has a row for social skills, they've ticked 'needs improvement' and written 'reluctant to share toys' next to it. I'm not upset, I'm confused. Does anyone expect sharing at this age, or is this the same template they use for the three year olds? If it's a real concern I want to know what they saw. If it's a template, I'd like them to stop sending it.

template. my daughter's playschool report at two said 'needs to improve: listening'. she's nine and it still applies, so maybe not entirely wrong

Ask them who fills it in. At our daughter's daycare years ago, the sheets were done by the coordinator, who saw the kids for ten minutes a day. The room teacher's view was very different and far more useful.

Good point. The sheet is signed by the centre head, not his room teacher. I'll ask the teacher at pickup tomorrow what 'reluctant to share' looked like.

younger one's daycare did these too. i compared with two other moms once, same three remarks for every kid. still annoying

  • Genuine question from a parent whose six month old isn't in daycare yet. Do these sheets start from the baby room itself? Trying to understand what we're signing up for.
