Left her sleep cloth at a restaurant on Tuesday. Two nights of chaos so far

umber_kite_7492

It's a faded muslin cloth, nothing special, she's had it since she was tiny. We drove back the same evening, the tables were already cleared and nobody had seen it. Tried three new cloths. She knows. She sniffs each one and throws it out of the cot. My partner and I are doing shifts at night. Do you keep spare comfort things, and can a 1 year old be fooled at all? Ayyo, whatever she finally accepts is never leaving the house.

with my son it was a blue towel. we cut it in half when he was 2 so there was always a backup. too late for you but for next time

Ours is only 5 months and this just made me order a second of her swaddle. Did you try sleeping with one of the new cloths yourself for a night? Someone told us smell matters more than how it looks.

Not yet. One of them went through the wash with our clothes, but nobody slept with it. We'll try it under a pillow tonight.

Lost teddy on a train, that was us, at about the same age. Three bad nights, then he picked a pillow of all things and that settled it. They move on sooner than it feels at 2 am.

call the restaurant anyway. ours turned up in a lost-and-found box a week later, folded better than we ever fold it

ordering two of everything she's attached to, right now. thanks for the warning

With our son we never had a backup and every loss was a crisis. With our younger one we rotate two identical cloths so neither one smells new. The catch is she now wants both at once. Still easier than what you're dealing with.
