It rains every evening. Both girls want pakoras every evening.

Started as a cosy rainy-day thing in July. Now it's a daily demand. Both of them, 9 and 11. Anything hot and crunchy that isn't deep fried every single day? Roasted bhutta worked for exactly one week 😄

We do baked chana and makhana roasted with a little ghee and chaat masala. Not quite pakora, but it is hot and crunchy, and the noise of it seems to be half the appeal. Have you tried letting them make it themselves? My daughter will eat anything she has stirred.

probably same colony, same demand here. paniyaram pan. very little oil, still crisp outside. mine eat it with podi

Pune is the same, one drop of rain and everyone wants bhajji. We make thalipeeth on the tawa, crisp at the edges. Son calls it 'flat pakoda'.

my son asks for pakoras, eats one, then just wants to hold the plate and watch the rain with us. i think the pakora is a ticket to sit by the window. we've stopped frying and he still comes.

Ours too. The window is the treat, the food is the excuse.

Tried the air fryer for a week. The results are fine but not the same, and my daughter knows it. I've settled on proper pakoras on Saturdays and something baked on other days. There is some sulking on Wednesdays.
