Is it fine to watch TV in the evening with a 5 month old awake in the room?

Our son is 5 months and he's awake till about 10 most nights. That used to be our one hour of a show after dinner. Now if the TV is on he twists round on whoever's lap he's on and just stares at it. Partner says we switch it off completely till he sleeps. I say low volume and turn him away is fine. Neither of us has read anything on this, we're just arguing from vibes 😄 What do people do in a 2BHK where the TV is in the only room with a sofa?

We didn't switch off. Volume low, him facing the window. Son is 10 now, seems fine 😂 Our doctor back then said no screens for him, not no TV in the house.

How did you keep him facing the window once he could twist round? That's the part I can't picture. Ours is 2 months and already follows the light from the TV during night feeds, so I'm asking for later.

Tried the turn-him-away thing last night. He twisted back round within ten minutes, like a sunflower. Compromise for now: the show goes on after he's down, even if that's 10.30. We'll see how long we last.
