IB to CBSE for class 11 at Vikas The Concept School next year. How do joiners cope?

pebble_bookmark_600

Son is in IB right now and wants to switch to CBSE for the last two years so he can prepare for JEE alongside. Vikas in Bachupally is close to home and a few of his cricket friends study there. Anyone know how students who join in class 11 from IB or other boards settle in? Mostly worried about the first term: the pace, and whether outside joiners find a friend group.

Changing boards won't give him JEE prep by itself. What's the plan for coaching? That decides more than the school.

Fair. Plan is coaching on top, which is why close to home matters. Saves two hours of travel a day.

We looked at Vikas briefly for our daughter's nursery when we were house-hunting up that side, so the senior classes I know nothing about. The visit was well organised and they answered questions directly. I'd ask them specifically how many outside students joined class 11 last year.

That is the right question to ask. When my son changed schools for his last two years, the numbers mattered. He was one of three new boys in a class of forty, and those three stayed friends for many years.

We're stuck on the same thing at home, DP or CBSE for 11. Nothing decided. Keen to read what others say 🤷

Our son's friend joined Vikas in class 9 from another CBSE school and settled in fine. No idea about IB joiners though.
