How small do you cut grapes for a toddler who wants them whole?

Grapes are back on the fruit carts and our daughter has decided she's too big for quartered ones. She sees us eating them whole and gets very upset when hers come cut. Yesterday she grabbed one off my plate and I had to fish it out of her mouth. How long did you keep cutting them? And how did you get through the 'I want it like yours' phase?

We're only just starting solids with our son, so no experience yet. Our paediatrician brought up grapes on her own at the last visit: quartered lengthwise until well past two, she said, and not to give in on that one. I'll be reading the answers to your second question for later.

Well past two is useful to hear, thanks. Tonight we cut ours the same way as hers so the plates matched. She ate every piece without a fight.

Quartered here till 3, no exceptions. Ours went through the same phase. We stopped eating grapes in front of her for a few weeks and it passed.
