How long did working from home with a baby and a half-day helper hold up for you?

My partner goes back to office at the start of June, five days a week. I'm fully remote with a few late production calls. The plan is a helper from 9 to 2, and me handling the rest around work. Friends keep saying that won't hold once he's crawling. Anyone done remote work plus part-time help at this age? Where did it break, if it did?

What happens from 2 to 6? That's the stretch I'd worry about. Naps would be your only meeting window, and they move around a lot at that age.

We tried exactly this with our daughter and it held for about six weeks. It broke when she dropped a nap and my afternoon calls had nowhere to go. We extended the helper till 5, and it was worth the cost. A lot depends on how many of your calls can't move.

    • Six weeks is a useful number. Most of my calls can move, the production ones can't. Will budget for extending the helper and see how June goes.
