grandparent doing pickups at Academic Heights Public School, how does it usually work

lilac_tiffin_8166

my grandson's parents are looking at academic heights in chandanagar for my grandson, class 1 next year. both of them work late so i would be at the gate most afternoons, coming from tellapur. do many grandparents do the pickup there or is it mostly the bus. and do the small classes come out separately from the older ones. just trying to picture it

Don't know AHPS specifically. At my daughter's school in Marredpally a good number of the class 1 and 2 pickups are grandparents, maybe a third. Most schools give you a pickup card with the child's photo, keep that with you always. We forgot it once and had to wait for the class teacher to come out 🤷

Same at my son's school. The younger ones are kept in the classroom until a known adult comes, which is slower but reassuring. Worth asking AHPS whether they do it that way or at the gate, since that decides how early you need to get there.

We looked at AHPS briefly when we moved to Gopanpally and went elsewhere. The question I'd ask the office is what time the class 1 children actually leave versus the official end time. In our current school the primary section is out fifteen minutes before the seniors, which makes the gate much calmer for grandparents.

staggered timings are common. my daughter's school does primary first. definitely ask

From Tellapur, leave buffer. The Chandanagar stretch at 3 to 3.30 is slow on weekdays and worse when it rains. If your grandson takes the bus some days and you on others, check if they let you switch day to day or only by term.

good point on switching. at our school the bus list is fixed for the term, changes need a written note a day in advance. grandparents who do half the week usually just keep a standing note with the class teacher
