For parents of 2 and 3 year olds: how long can they really stay with a group music and movement class?

lilac_rangoli_71

I teach classical dance to older children at a clubhouse in Nallagandla. A few parents have asked whether I'd do something for toddlers. Rhythm, clapping, moving to music, nothing formal. I don't have children myself, so I want to check with people who actually live with toddlers before I plan anything. How long can a 2 or 3 year old realistically stay with a group activity? Would you want to stay in the room, or is drop-off better? I'm thinking weekend mornings, but I'm not sure that's when you'd want it.

four months in, so i can only speak for the parent side. weekend mornings are the one time both of us are functional. and at that age i'd want to stay in the room, no question

at 3 my boy lasted about ten minutes in anything group, then lay flat on the floor and watched the rest. haha. he's 17 now. keep it short and let them wander, he still took it all in

The lying on the floor and watching is very familiar. My daughter did the same in her first drawing class when she was small, and the teacher let her be. Now she is 12 and draws all the time. Some children take everything in quietly first, then join.
