Five days at daycare, and on Saturdays she won't let either of us out of sight

dusk_compass_992

Our daughter has been at daycare a few months now and weekdays are fine. Drop-off is calm, the staff say she's happy. Saturdays are another story. She cries if I go to the bathroom. Ammi says it's because we "send her away all week", which has been great for my guilt. Is this a phase? Does it ease, or does it mean she's less settled than daycare thinks?

My son did exactly this at around the same age. Weekdays fine, weekends glued to me. Our daycare said it's common, they hold it together there and let it out with the people they're surest of. It wore off over a couple of months and I can't claim any credit for that ignore the 'send her away' comments if you can. easier said than done i know

We see this with our caregiver too. Our son is fine with her all day, then won't let my partner put him down after 6.

Not much to add on the phase question, but one thing helped us back when our son was that age: a fixed Saturday morning with one parent. Same park, same breakfast, same order. He seemed to relax once the weekend had a shape to it.
