Every visitor says our one month old looks exactly like my partner's father. I can't see it

He's four and a half weeks. So far he has been told he has my partner's father's nose, my mother's chin, a great-uncle's ears and, from one aunt, 'the look of a Lucknow boy'. I'm the one who holds him most and I've been assigned no features at all. I know it's harmless and everyone means well. I also look at him at 3 am and see a small, cross, wrinkled stranger who looks like nobody. Does the resemblance talk ever stop, or does it go on till they're grown?

'The look of a Lucknow boy' is not a feature. Ask the aunt which part she means. It dies down once he has expressions of his own, a few months from now. Then they move on to whose temper he has.

  • At birth our daughter was declared to be her grandfather. At one, her father. At 13 she looks like nobody but herself, and mostly like her friends' haircuts. We have photos from each year, and every opinion was right at the time.

it never stops. our 11 year old is still told she has my mother's walk. she does have my mother's walk

I'd be wary of judging at one month. Our son looked like neither of us for the first three months, then suddenly very much like my partner, and now, at five, people say he looks like me. Faces change a great deal in the first year.

The 3 am stranger made me laugh. You'll get a feature eventually, promise. Ours was given my eyebrows at about four months and I've been insufferable about it ever since ❤️

My amma still says our daughter looks like her own sister. Nobody else sees it. Let them talk, it keeps them happy.
