eating out with a 10 month old who won't stay in the high chair. do we just stop for now

violet_moon_786

it used to be the easy part of the weekend. he'd sit in the restaurant high chair, chew the edge of a dosa and watch the fans. since he started pulling himself up on everything he stands in the chair, arches out of the strap and wants the floor. last sunday my partner and i ate in shifts, one at the table and one walking him round the car park. eating out is one of the few things we still do the way we used to. does this pass soon, or do we order in till he's walking

Same age here, and the same Sundays. Haha. What has helped a little: we go at 12 or 6.30 when the place is half empty, take a corner table so he can stand on my lap facing the window, and keep two things he only gets in restaurants. A steel spoon and a lid bought us twenty minutes last time. We still eat in shifts some days. It passes, slowly.

corner table and restaurant-only toys. noting. ours still sleeps through dinners out. clearly not for long
