Does Academic Heights in Yousufguda give anything extra to primary children who are ahead?

June 2027, for class 3, is when we'd like to move him, and Academic Heights Public School in Yousufguda is one of the nearer CBSE schools to Begumpet. He's finishing class 1 at an ICSE school now. He reads well beyond his class and has worked through most of his maths book on his own. His current teacher's answer is to make him the helper for other children, which he enjoys, but he isn't learning much new. Parents of primary children there: do teachers give extension work or a different reading level, or is it the same worksheet for everyone? And how did you find out? Every school says yes to this question on a tour.

not a parent there so can't help with the school itself. but how ahead is ahead? asking because every parent in my son's playgroup believes theirs is

Fair question. He reads chapter books by himself and does the class 2 maths workbook his cousin left behind, for fun. Not a genius, just bored, and I'd rather that didn't turn into him switching off by class 3.

Mine was 'ahead' in class 2 and fairly ordinary by class 4, once the work caught up with him. Nothing wrong with that. What made the difference both years was a teacher who noticed him, and unfortunately you only find that out once he's sitting in the class.

I teach maths in a CBSE school, not this one. In most schools this depends on the class teacher far more than on any policy. On your visit, ask to see a primary maths notebook and ask what they did last term with a child who finished early. A specific answer is a good sign. 'We give every child opportunities' is not.
