Did anyone do police verification for their nanny?

umber_diary_4382

We've found someone to cover the evenings on my release days, from 6 till one of us gets home, which can be 9 or later. She starts next Monday. A neighbour who has known her for years recommended her, and the trial evening went well. My partner thinks that's enough. My mother keeps forwarding me messages about police verification and asking if we've 'done the paperwork'. I don't even know where you start. Is it an online form, do you go to the station, does the nanny have to come with you? And how do you bring it up with someone you've just hired without it sounding like you suspect her of something. Half of me thinks we should just do it, and the other half thinks we've already decided to trust her :)
