Daycare pickup has become a chase around the lobby every evening

He sees me at the door, grins, and runs. Under the reception bench, round the shoe rack, back into the play room. The staff think it's sweet. By the third lap I don't. He isn't upset about leaving once I've caught him. It's purely the game. How do you get a toddler out of daycare without pickup turning into a sport?

Ours did this at that age. What worked was giving him a job the moment he saw us. He carried his water bottle to the car, nothing else. Not every day, but most days.

very normal, sorry 🤷 leaving is a transition and running is his way of saying not yet. we do a fixed goodbye: wave to the slide, wave to the teacher, shoes, out. same order every day. took about two weeks to stick

Our daughter ran the same laps at her daycare. The day I stopped chasing, she came back to check why I wasn't playing. Not a fix exactly, but the laps got shorter. The staff laughing doesn't help either ❤
