Daycare pickup at 6:30 pm: how late is too late for a preschooler — looking for recent parent experiences

Both our jobs can run until 6 and commute is unpredictable. A nearby daycare is open until 7:30, but I worry that a very long day will be tiring. Working parents, what schedule has been sustainable for your child and for you?

    We put school events and pickup commitments directly on both work calendars. Hiding them made last-minute conflicts worse, not better. We are in Hyderabad and this came up for us last year.
