Daycare is offering parents a live CCTV feed of the baby room. Do I want it?

rose_moon_5722

Our daughter's daycare is rolling out a camera feed that parents can open in an app. Most parents in our group are delighted. Security is my job, so my first questions were about where the footage is stored and who else can log in, and I have put those to the daycare separately. The question I cannot answer professionally is the parenting one. Did having a live feed make you calmer, or did you end up watching during meetings and worrying about things you could do nothing about? I suspect I would be the second kind.

we have one at home for the caregiver. checked it every ten minutes the first week. now maybe once a day. it got boring, which i think is the point

Our daycare has had one since before we joined. I look at lunch most days, and I have learnt that ten seconds of video without sound can look far worse than it is. A baby crying alone in a corner, and then a teacher walks into the frame. Did you find you trusted your caregiver more after the boring phase, or did you simply stop looking?

      Replying to @fern_sketch_1447

We had a camera on our son's nanny when he was a baby, years ago now. For me it was the second: I stopped looking, but I didn't trust her any more than I would have without it. The trust came from the evenings she told us what had happened before we asked. The camera never told me that.
