Caregiver still mashes everything for our toddler. When did yours start eating what you eat?

Our daughter is well past her first birthday. Our caregiver makes her a separate mashed bowl at every meal, while we eat dal, rice and vegetables with the usual tempering and chilli. I'd like to move her to our food, but I don't want to overrule the caregiver on something she cares about without a reason. When did you make the change, and did you leave out the spice for a while or just go ahead?

Ours went onto our plate at around one, mostly because she kept grabbing from it. We took her portion out before the tempering and chilli went in. Took our caregiver a while to trust it, though.

Taking her portion out before the tempering is simple enough that our caregiver may agree to it. I think lumps worry her more than spice does. Did you reduce the mashing gradually, or switch in one go?

from a long way back: ours ate whatever we ate from about a year, minus the pickle. he's in middle school now and pickle is his main food group
