Back to daycare after a break and the gate tears are back

My toddler was settled before a gap in attendance. Now every morning there is crying at the gate, even though the place and carers are familiar. I am watching the pattern rather than deciding the place is suddenly wrong. How long would you observe a restart before asking for a more formal conversation about the settling routine?
