looking at venus campus for my son for class 1 next june. it's close to us in bachupally which matters a lot. my on-call days at the hospital are unpredictable. is there any after-school care on campus, or do parents arrange something outside? also how long is the class 1 day roughly

Our son finished school long ago, so no current info. But when you call, ask whether the after-school care is run by the school or by an outside company. It changes who holds the pickup list.

Good point about the outside company. Our daughter's school daycare is run by a separate firm and the pickup list sits with them, not the school office. It took us a week and a confused caregiver to work that out.

My daughter is in college now, so I can't speak for this school. One thing I wish we had asked at class 1: what happens on half-days and exam days. The timings change, and after-care doesn't always run on those days. Those were the days we struggled.

My granddaughter's parents asked the same question when she started class 1. The most useful thing they asked turned out to be how many children usually stay back. If it is only two or three, it is mostly supervised waiting, which may be fine, but it is worth knowing.

Is your son in an ICSE preschool now? If so, are you fine with CBSE from class 1?

yes icse preschool. at 5 i don't think the board matters much. if it were class 4 i'd think harder

A practical question from another doctor parent: ask what they do when a child falls ill during the day and whom they call first. With on-call days, we gave the school my partner's number as the first contact and it saved a lot of missed calls in the middle of clinics.
