Found him standing in the hall at 6 am on Tuesday, very proud. Again on Thursday. Cot rail is apparently a suggestion now 😂 Floor mattress? Toddler bed? Or does that mean he'll be wandering the house all night. Kompally flat, he'd have a lot of house to wander.

We moved my grandson to a mattress on the floor at about that age, after a similar escape. The first week he got up several times a night and walked to his parents' door, which was tiring for everyone. After that he mostly stayed put. What helped was making his room safe enough that wandering didn't matter: furniture fixed to the wall, nothing he could climb, a gate at the door so he couldn't reach the kitchen or the balcony. A toddler bed was not needed. The fall from a floor mattress is nothing.
Our daughter never had cot only. From small age all of us slept on mattress on floor. No falling problem, no climbing problem 🙂 Now she is 17, still sleeps on floor in summer.
