2 year old wants to do her own shoes, zip and car seat buckle. Every morning.

Daycare drop-off is at 8.30. We now leave at 8.50 because she has to do everything herself and screams if I help. Shoes on the wrong feet I can live with. It's the buckle that takes ten minutes. Do people actually get up earlier for this, or is there a way to let her do some of it and not all of it? Waking her earlier only makes it worse.

Up late with a work deadline and this made me smile. With my two I gave each of them one job that was theirs every day, no matter what. Shoes were my son's. The buckle stayed mine, and I said so before we left the house, not once we were at the car. Didn't always work, but the fights got shorter ❤️

He's 11 months, so this is still ahead of us, but I can see it coming. He already pulls the spoon away from his grandmother, who can feed him in five minutes flat, while the caregiver lets him make a mess for twenty. I've been wondering which of the two he'll expect at the car seat in a year. The one-job idea above sounds like something both of them could agree to.
