I'll ask about Urdu as well when I call them. I'm planning to ring the office after the holidays and I'll put whatever they say here. I haven't found it written anywhere either, which is a bit frustrating when it matters this much for the day-to-day homework.

Is there a written policy on unpaid leave, or is it fully her call? At my last job it went to HR once you applied in writing, and managers had less say than they acted like. Worth reading the leave policy before your next conversation with her.
