That was exactly the question to ask. I checked her last unit test paper this morning: constructions on paper, compass and protractor. Two marks lost for 'arcs not visible'. So it isn't nostalgia on my part. We'll do a few by hand on weekends until the school sorts out the mismatch.

Did she say why now? With ours it turned out to be about swimming and how long it took to dry. Once we knew the reason, explaining it to the grandparents was easier, because it wasn't just 'she wants to look different'.
