Visitors around a newborn: what boundaries did you set without upsetting family?

We are happy that everyone is excited, but there are already requests to visit in the first week. I want to be sensible about rest and hygiene without turning it into a family issue. What boundaries felt reasonable and how did you communicate them? We have spoken to a couple of parents offline too, but the answers are very mixed.
