The return gift has to be smaller than the invitation

My daughter is convinced that if a birthday invite is shiny the return gift must be shinier. I gave her a scrap paper to plan, and she drew an enormous bag containing something that looks like a bicycle. I am enjoying the ambition and postponing the budget discussion.
