Scooter drop to daycare in this rain, and he fights the raincoat every single morning

My partner does the daycare drop on the scooter, I do the pickup by cab. Every rainy morning the raincoat comes out, our son goes stiff and screams, and by the time it's on him they're both wet anyway. A cab every rainy morning adds up and isn't always available at 8.30. Please don't tell me to make it fun, I've done the song. What worked for your toddler?

The sleeves are the problem, at least for ours. What finally worked was a poncho type thing, nothing to push arms into. It goes over her head, done in two seconds, and she keeps her hands inside like a little tent. She still protests, but for two seconds instead of five minutes :)

Poncho worked for my son too. He refused anything with sleeves till nearly four. Get one long enough to cover his knees on the scooter, the short ones leave the legs soaked.
