Renewing at our current school or switching both kids to Bhashyam in Kukatpally

Our renewal form came this week and I sat down tonight to actually do the sums instead of just comparing the tuition line. Two children, a 6 year old daughter and a 12 year old son, so every small item gets doubled. With the current school I already know the hidden extras because we've paid them for years. Books, uniform sets, the van, the annual day costume, the excursion that is optional but not really. For Bhashyam I only have what we were told at the counter, and I'm sure I'm missing pieces. When you compared schools, how did you build the full yearly number? Especially transport, since we'd be closer but still not walking distance.

We did one Excel sheet, both schools side by side, every line item from the year before. My mamagaru saw it and said this much planning for one school only? But the thing that surprised us was transport, it was nearly a quarter of the total in one option.

What did the counter actually give you, a printed sheet or verbal numbers? If verbal, ask for it in writing with every component listed. Otherwise you are comparing a known number with a guess.

Ask for the van fee for the next year also, not this year's. Ours went up mid-year once, no notice.

We built ours from last year's bank statement rather than from fee circulars, because that showed every school payment including the small ones we had forgotten. It came to noticeably more than the circular total. For transport, did you price both the school van and a private van from your area? In our case the private one was cheaper but less reliable on timing.
