potty at home, diapers all day at daycare
he actually goes in the mornings and after his nap now 😅 at home only. daycare says diapers are easier with so many kids. asking them to try once or twice a day, fair or too much?

Wait, at 1?? Impressive 😊
My only worry would be him getting confused between the two places. Mine is the same age and we haven't started at all, so I can't say much. But I'd ask daycare for one try a day, maybe after nap, not a full switch.
That is roughly what we did with my daughter, one fixed try after lunch at daycare and diapers the rest of the day. It didn't speed anything up, but she wasn't unlearning it every weekday either. The cost was that the staff had to remember, and some days they simply didn't.
How many children per carer in that room? With a high ratio, putting one child on the potty twice a day is a real ask for them. Find that out before you push.
Exactly, ratio decides it.
