Moving our 12yo to Oxford Grammar in Himayatnagar midway, how were the first months

with our new routine oxford grammar school is ten minutes away and his current one takes nearly an hour in the morning traffic. on paper an easy call. but he's 12, his whole friend group is at the current school, he's been with them since nursery and he has flatly said no not really asking about the school itself. if your child changed schools around class 6 or 7, how did the first few months actually go. did the old friendships survive at all or fade by the next year 🤷‍♂️
