grandson wants to help with every bake. what can a 4 year old do besides crack eggs

he spends three afternoons a week with us and has decided baking is our thing. very happy about that. less happy about the eggshell in the cake. so far he cracks the eggs (sort of), tips in the flour once i've measured it and presses the button on the mixer. he wants more jobs. what have your little ones managed in the kitchen at 4. the oven stays mine

With a one year old I can only guess, but the jobs that keep ours busy are the ones with a clear end: pulling curry leaves off the stalk, washing vegetables in a basin, mashing a banana with a fork. At 4 I'd guess he could knead, use cookie cutters and sprinkle anything you allow him to sprinkle. Greasing the tin with butter might also go down well. It looks like an important job and it's hard to get wrong.
