Dummy school for entrance prep: what trade-offs did families underestimate?

We are hearing strong opinions both ways. More preparation time sounds attractive, but I worry about school life, practicals, routine and a backup plan if the entrance path changes. Looking for first-hand parent experiences, not institute marketing.

Please be cautious of any institute promising guaranteed ranks. Speaking to current students gave us a much more realistic picture of workload. My spouse had a different view initially, so we tried it for a few weeks before deciding.

A backup plan actually reduced pressure in our house. The child could aim high without feeling one exam would decide their whole future. Current students gave us more useful detail than the institute presentation. We are in Coimbatore, so local logistics may be a little different.

Could you share what you would do differently if you were starting again? Current students gave us more useful detail than the institute presentation. In our house, the practical routine mattered more than the ideal plan.

Thank you. I like that this does not require changing everything at once. Current students gave us more useful detail than the institute presentation. I would still test it for a short period before making a long commitment.

Thank you. I like that this does not require changing everything at once. We separated the child's preference from the family budget conversation. We only reached that conclusion after trying the other approach first.

This is close to what my spouse is suggesting too. I may have been overcomplicating it. We separated the child's preference from the family budget conversation. Your child's response may be different, but this was our experience.

Good point about asking for the details in writing. I had not thought of that. We revisited the plan after a few months instead of treating it as irreversible. Your child's response may be different, but this was our experience.

Same here. The logistics are what make the 'ideal' option difficult in real life. We separated the child's preference from the family budget conversation. Your child's response may be different, but this was our experience.
