Daycare's daily note says 'good day, ate well' every single day

Every evening the daycare app has the same note for my 2 year old: good day, ate well, napped. Last week he came home with a scratch on his arm and the note still said good day. Nobody had mentioned it. They're perfectly polite when I ask, but the answer at pickup is always 'he's fine, very active'. I don't want a minute-by-minute report. I want to know two or three real things. Who he played with, whether he actually ate the lunch, why there's a scratch. How do other parents get specifics out of the staff without becoming the difficult parent?

I did my granddaughter's pickups for some years when she was small, so I have asked this question at many gates. 'How was his day' will get you 'fine' from anyone who has twenty children to hand over. A specific question gets a specific answer: 'Did he eat the rice or only the fruit today?' or 'Who was he playing with this morning?' The staff remember those things; they simply do not volunteer them. For the scratch, I would ask once, calmly, when it happens, and ask what they usually do when there is a small injury. That is a question about their process, not an accusation, and most centres will tell you.
