We waited until there was a specific gap rather than joining tuition because everyone else had. One good teacher for one weak area was more useful than a daily general tuition. We reviewed it again after one school term instead of deciding forever. I would still test it for a short period before making a long commitment.
For projects we help with planning, materials and safety, but the child's hand should be visible in the final result. Otherwise it becomes a parent competition. We changed our approach after about a month because the first plan was too hard to sustain.

We saw more improvement from regular reading and sleep than from adding extra worksheets every evening. We are in Bengaluru and this came up for us last year.
