Cousin is passing on her son's cradle, pram and car seat for our first baby. Which should be new?

We are expecting our first baby. My cousin who stays near us has finished with her son's things and wants to give everything to us. Cradle, pram, bath tub, clothes, bottles, car seat also. My amma says take all, why waste money. My husband says some things should be new. Which things did you take second hand and which you bought new? We are trying to save where we can.
