Apparently I cannot chop vegetables without an audience

Working from home with a toddler in Electronic City means I can be in the flat all day and still not get ten quiet minutes for dinner prep. I do not want a rigid activity schedule. I just need something safe and genuinely interesting at floor level while I handle the stove. Anyone found a simple setup that lasts longer than two minutes?

A basket of big plastic containers works here, especially the ones with mismatched lids. I only bring it out during cooking.

The special cooking-time basket might be the missing piece. Everything else is always out.

My son spent ages putting one big bowl inside another. The expensive toys were ignored.

I keep a safe play spot within sight. If she cannot see me, the whole plan falls apart.

Visibility matters with ours too. Even the doorway is too far away.

No activity works consistently at our place. Some days chopping is just louder than expected.

That sounds familiar. I was hoping for magic, not miracles.
