Abhuyudaya in Gopanpally for my 5 year old, but who covers the afternoons

We liked Abhuyudaya Preprimary when we visited, it's close to home and she was happy there in the 20 minutes we spent. Problem is the afternoon. Both of us work till 6 at least. I still have to confirm the exact timing with them, but I'm assuming she'd be home well before we are. My son is 6 and in a different school with a longer day so his afternoons are sorted. Daughter would likely need someone for part of the afternoon. For those whose kids had a short preschool day, what did you do for the gap? Daycare pickup from school, nanny, grandparents? We don't have family here 🥲

Our younger one is 3 and is in a half-day preschool. What works for us is a daycare that sends someone to collect children from two or three nearby preschools. Before signing up we did one full trial week to see the actual pickup time, what they ate there, and whether he napped. The brochure version and the real version were quite different on the nap part.

We used a nanny for the gap when ours was small, and the tradeoff never fully went away. A nanny gives you flexibility on sick days, but you are now managing a person, her leave and her own family emergencies. A daycare is more predictable but your child has a second long day after the first one. Neither was clearly better for us.

My son is 13 now so this is going back a bit, but we had exactly this gap at 5. The first question I'd ask is whether any daycare near you does the pickup itself, because the drop from school to daycare is the hardest part to arrange. She'll adjust to the two places faster than you expect ❤️

That pickup part is my biggest worry actually. Called two daycares in our area today, one said they do pickups only from schools on their own list, the other said a staff member can come but they charge separately per month. Waiting to hear the amount. Also need to ask Abhuyudaya whether they allow a third person to collect with an authorisation letter
