A forwarded readiness list has me second-guessing before we apply to Auxilium

maple_river_7571

We are looking at Auxilium in Marredpally for our daughter for next year. She is 4. In an informal parents' group I am part of, someone posted that every child is supposed to be reading simple three-letter words by the time they join school, and now there is a list going around of what they should already know. Nobody in the group could say where this came from. I would rather hear it from the school, or from parents who asked the school directly, than prepare her against a forwarded list. How did you find out what a school actually expected at entry? Did you ask at the admission office, at the interaction, or somewhere else?

These lists go around every year in every group 🤷‍♂️ When my son was applying last year we just asked at the admission counter of each school what they look for at the interaction. Every answer was much shorter than the list.

Ya same experience. For my younger one I emailed the admissions office and asked if there was any written readiness guideline. Got a reply in a week 🥲 slow but at least it was from them

honestly i stopped reading those lists. my son's 5 and couldn't read words at 4, and the schools we looked at mostly wanted to see if he'd sit and talk to someone new. that's just what we saw though
