5 months and she's soaking through three bibs a day

drool everywhere. three bibs by evening, my shoulder permanently damp, a rash starting on her chin. no teeth showing yet. my mother says teeth are coming. the doctor at the last check said this is normal at her age and teeth could still be months away. both can be true i suppose. what helped with the chin rash and the wet necklines? the bibs we have soak straight through.

Ha, the damp shoulder. Bandana bibs with a waterproof backing were the only ones that worked for my younger one. Change them more often than feels necessary.

son drooled like this from about 4 months and the first tooth came at 9. so it can go on a while. we patted his chin dry instead of wiping, wiping made the rash worse. doctor gave us a cream that helped, ask yours

It's twenty years ago for me, but the routine that kept my daughter's chin clear was simple. A soft cloth to dab rather than rub, a thin layer of whatever barrier cream the paediatrician approved before naps and at bedtime, and a dry vest at every feed. The vest changes were the tiresome part. The rash settled in about a week.
