3 month old chews her fists all day. Too early to be teeth?

Our daughter has discovered her hands and they are now permanently in her mouth. Drool everywhere, two bibs a day. My mother says teething. My partner says she has just found her hands. I'm searching 'teething at 3 months' at 2 am, which never ends well. Did anyone's baby get teeth this early? Or is this just the phase where hands are the most interesting thing in the room?

My son drooled and chewed from about this age and his first tooth came months later. Our doctor called it the hands phase and said the drooling starts well before teeth. If anything changes with feeding or sleep, that's worth mentioning at the next visit.

everyone in our family called every cranky day 'teething' for about six months straight. it was hands, then a growth spurt, then finally teeth. keep a soft cloth under her chin, the drool rash was the real problem for us
