1on Class 3 maths teacher has banned erasers, and my neat son hates his notebook now
My daughter's chess coach has the same rule for scoresheets, no rubbing out moves. She hated it for weeks and now doesn't even notice. At 8 it might take a little longer.
3on Class 9 son has wanted to fly planes for a year now. Anything to keep open before 11th?
A colleague's son went this route. His advice was to check the medical requirements early, before anyone spends on flying school, because that's the one part you can't prepare your way into. Everything else can wait till after 12th.
1on My two teenagers stopped bickering this summer. They play chess every night instead
My daughter plays rated tournaments, so I've spent many Saturdays in those halls. Teenagers who start late do fine in them, but a classical tournament is a long, quiet day and can feel like an exam. If you want to test the idea, a weekend rapid event is friendlier: short games, done by lunch. Or simply leave it. A sheet on the fridge with two names on it is already a tournament.
