Toddler biting at daycare — how did you work with the teachers on it?

The daycare told us our 2.5-year-old has bitten another child twice this month. They are not shaming the child, but I want to respond properly at home too. Parents who went through this, what helped and what made it worse? I would especially value recent experiences from the last one or two academic years.

A visual routine with two or three pictures worked surprisingly well at this age. The child liked knowing what came next. We are in Ahmedabad and this came up for us last year.

Can I ask roughly what age/class your child was when you tried this? The first few days were definitely messier than the later ones. We only reached that conclusion after trying the other approach first.

Thank you. I like that this does not require changing everything at once.

Interesting — we had assumed the opposite. Helpful to hear a first-hand experience.

What worked for another child may not fit yours, so I would use the replies here as ideas to test rather than a rulebook.

Good point about asking for the details in writing. I had not thought of that. Keeping the change small made it easier for our child. We made the change gradually rather than all at once.

We tried something similar once, but probably gave up too early. How long did you continue before judging it? We had to repeat the same boundary many times before it clicked. We are in Kolkata, so local logistics may be a little different.
